‘Ancient Origin’
Group Art Exhibition on Tempera
The inauguration ceremony of the group exhibition titled ‘Ancient Origin’ of 13 promising young artists was organized at Bhumi Gallery today, Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 6 pm. Renowned painter Professor Abul Barak Alvi and art lover Gitanka Devdeep Datta were present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of this 4-day exhibition at Bhumi Gallery in Lalmatia. Along with the participating artists, young painters and art lovers of the country were also present at the inauguration ceremony.ent at the inauguration ceremony.

A total of 63 paintings by 13 artists are being exhibited in this 4-day group exhibition titled ‘Ancient Origin’, featuring artworks painted using egg tempera. The 13 participating artists are Jhotan Chandra Roy, Manik Banik, Ajmal Hossain, Tanjina Tabassum Esha, Moazzem Hossain, Nabaraj Roy, Ajay Sanal, Roni Mall, Riturupa Talukder, Fahmida Alam, Ananya Chakraborty, Mishkatul Jannat, Anika Haque Sandhi.
Tempera is an ancient medium. Before the invention of paint, paper or canvas for painting, the indomitable interest that people had in creating works of art was expressed through this medium. This exhibition, held at Bhoomi Gallery, was originally a joint initiative of a few artists in July 2024 and a collective exhibition of 63 works of art selected by a workshop led by Jhotan Roy.
